SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One person was taken to the hospital late Sunday night after an outing for pizza escalated into a road rage incident in Pacific Beach, police said.

According to San Diego police, the altercation occurred at around 10:30 p.m. at Everts and Hornblend streets.

Police said a group of people were on their way to a pizza eatery when they exchanged words with a car that they felt was driving dangerously.

A short time later, the car pulled over and two men got out to confront the group.

Members of the group said the men attacked one of their friends with a small baseball bat, hitting him so hard the bat broke in half, before the pair got back into their car and drove away.

A man was hospitalized with head injuries of unknown severity.

Detailed descriptions of the car and two men involved in the altercation were not immediately available.
