Lanes shut down on I-15 after driver leads deputies on pursuit, crashes

RANCHO BERNARDO (KGTV) - The San Diego Sheriff's Department shut down multiple lanes on I-15 southbound near Rancho Bernardo Saturday night due to a crash.

At 10:16 p.m., the San Diego Sheriff's Department tried to pull over a driver for speeding. The driver refused to stop and drove away.

Deputies pursued the driver for more than five minutes until he crashed over an embankment on I-15 southbound.

The suspect was able to get out of the car and receive medical attention. He complained of a head injury and was taken to Palomar Medical Center. Deputies are evaluating him for possibly driving under the influence.

California Highway Patrol was assisting with shutting down lanes.
