SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An ice cream truck hit and injured a man on a Logan Heights street and then crashed into an electrical power box next to a San Diego Police Department station.

According to San Diego police, the ice cream truck struck a man and then hit a power box next to the department’s Central Division station located near the intersection of 25th Street and Imperial Avenue just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police said the truck’s driver told them he was driving down a hill when the vehicle’s brakes gave out. Several witnesses said the driver swerved off the road to avoid a busy intersection, but the truck then hit the pedestrian as it drove through a gas station.

The damaged power box led to a power outage at several nearby buildings, including the police station and gas station.

The pedestrian suffered injuries considered minor.

Police officials said that they were only in the preliminary stages of the investigation and have not yet determined what led to the collision.
