SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two homicide suspects from Long Beach were arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border line on Friday after leading the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit from Mission Valley to San Ysidro.
A CHP officer spotted a blue Acura Integra that was the subject of a be-on-the-lookout alert while heading south on Interstate 805 over Interstate 8, according to the state law enforcement agency.
The driver refused to yield and fled through southern San Diego, National City and Chula Vista before pulling over on Camino De La Plaza at Interstate 5, just north of the international line, CHP public-affairs Officer Salvador Castro said.
The fugitives identified as Junior Parra, 25, and his 23-year-old brother Ricardo, then jumped out of the vehicle and ran off. CHP and U.S. Customs and Border Protection ran after them and took them into custody a short distance away, Castro said.
The siblings were among four men arrested this week in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy in Long Beach last month, according to Long Beach police.
Jailed Thursday for allegedly taking part in the fatal shooting of Arthur Touch last month were Jose Martinez, 19, and Jacob Valentin, 18.
According to police, the suspects are accused of killing the boy Dec. 16 during an argument in the 1400 block of St. Louis Avenue. Officers found the victim lying in the road with gunshot wounds to his upper body. He died at the scene.
All four suspects were arrested on suspicion of murder. They were being held at Long Beach City Jail on $2 million bail, police said.
