NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a woman who escaped from custody while in handcuffs in the National City area.
The woman was handcuffed behind her back but was somehow able to get away from officers at around 2 a.m. Friday. She was last seen running towards Interstate 5 near the 7th Street on-ramp.
Officers combed the area but were unable to track the woman down.
Police did not disclose what the woman was detained for, but dispatchers seemed to indicate it was for a non-violent crime.
A description of the woman was not immediately released.
