EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- A 133-year-old El Cajon home was designated by the city as a historic site.

Earlier this month, the El Cajon City Council approved the designation of the Hall Family Ranch House as a “local historic resource.”

The home, located on Provo Street, was built in 1886. The original owners of the home, J.P.R. and Charlotte Hall, are considered prominent figures in the city of El Cajon who helped shape the community in significant ways.

The house was made in a Folk Victorian architectural style, and the historic designation will preserve the structure for years to come by setting up an approval process for any changes.

Two other homes in El Cajon -- The Knox House and The Wieghorst Residence -- are also listed as local historic resources.
