SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some families in Golden Hill are outraged after they say they watched a neighbor shoot and kill a squirrel with a pellet gun on their street.
The incident was caught on Yuliani Llohis’ camera early Sunday morning. She said she and her husband built feeders with their daughter for birds and squirrels in the neighborhood.
The video shows a man walking up to a tree right outside the Llohis' home on 20th Street. The man is heard talking to someone else saying, "I threw something at him, and he jumped my way.”
Moments later, a gunshot is heard, and the squirrel falls out of the tree. The man then grabs the squirrel and throws it into his front yard.
Llohis said she's worried about what her neighbor will do next and is concerned about her children and pet's safety.
Other neighbors said they were horrified when they saw the video and called police. San Diego police referred them to the San Diego Humane Society.
10News cameras were rolling when Humane Society officers showed up to take the neighbor's police report. Officers also tried to make contact with the man, but no one came to the door.
The families say officers told them there is enough evidence to open an investigation, but so far no one is facing any charges.
