SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A family was forced to evacuate from their City Heights home Monday morning after a Dumpster fire in a nearby alley spread to their home.
The fire was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. in an alley on 4056 Euclid Ave., near Polk Ave., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue officials.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly put the fire out as three residents were told to leave their home due to the threatening flames.
During the firefighting effort, crews discovered several downed power lines and a gas leak.
As firefighters doused the flames, San Diego Gas & Electric crews arrived to secure the gas leak and safely handle the downed lines.
Investigators consider the fire suspicious and believe it may have possibly been started in a Dumpster.
