CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A brush fire erupted near a Chula Vista elementary school Thursday afternoon, but firefighters were able to douse the flames before it reached any structures.
The fire was reported shortly after 4 p.m. in an area near 971 4th Ave., close to Lilian J. Rice Elementary School.
10News learned some grass and brush caught fire near a creek bed, prompting a response from Chula Vista Fire Department crews.
Crews were able to douse the fire as it moved towards an apartment building, but fire officials said no injuries or structure damage was reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
