SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police arrested a man suspected of carjacking a woman at knifepoint in a Fashion Valley Mall parking lot, officers said Tuesday.

Victor Resendiz, 35, was taken into custody at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Monday and booked into jail.

Police say Resendiz approached the 57-year-old woman from behind as she was walking to her car in the west parking lot of the mall at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 25.

Resendiz held a knife to the woman’s neck and demanded her car keys and wallet, police said. He got away in the woman’s Nissan Sentra.

Robbery Unit detectives said evidence led them to identify Resendiz as a suspect but did not provide details on the nature of the information.

Anyone with tips was asked to call San Diego Police or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
