SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Several families staying at the Bannister Family House next to UC San Diego Medical Center were forced to evacuate early Friday morning after a fire destroyed a nearby storage building.
The fire at the storage building was reported at around 12 a.m. in the 400 block of Dickinson Street, near the hospital’s West Wing, in Hillcrest.
10News learned the flames could be seen from miles away, as far away as Mission Valley, as it ripped through the building.
Authorities evacuated those who were staying at the Bannister Family House, a home where family members of long-term hospital patients can stay.
The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
