WINTER GARDENS (CNS) - A predawn fight among neighbors in a residential enclave north of El Cajon escalated Friday into a stabbing that left one of them dead and another under arrest on suspicion of killing him.
Deputies responding to a reported assault in the 8200 block of Jema Way in the unincorporated Winter Gardens area found the victim mortally wounded shortly after 12:30 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.
Medics took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending family notification.
Detectives interviewed people who had been involved in the fatal scuffle, then arrested one of them, Lt. Thomas Seiver said. The suspect, identified as Julia Gonzalez, 23, was expected to be booked into the Las Colinas women's jail in Santee on suspicion of murder.
It was unclear what sparked the fight.
