SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Some Good Samaritans ran across freeway lanes to help a woman who was trapped in her SUV after it rolled over on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley.

The crash happened at around 1 a.m. Thursday on westbound I-8 near Mission Center Road, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

Officials said a female driver somehow lost control of her SUV and slammed into the center divider, causing her vehicle to roll over onto its side.

Two drivers stopped to help the woman after witnessing the crash. One of the Good Samaritans said they had a hard time trying to get the woman out of the wreckage.

“We couldn’t get the door to open, so we went to the back, opened the trunk, had her walk out through the trunk side, crossed the road, and got her to sit on the side,” said one of the drivers who helped out.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.

As CHP officials investigate the crash, at least one witness said they believe the woman was speeding when the wreck occurred.
