SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A driver was ejected from his car after it rolled down an embankment in City Heights Friday morning.
The crash happened at around 2:15 a.m. off southbound state Route 15 near the transition to Interstate 805, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials said the driver lost control of his car for unknown reasons and veered off the freeway. The car then struck a tree and rolled down a hillside.
The rollover caused the driver to be ejected, and CHP officials said he landed about 40 feet away from the wreckage.
Emergency crews took the unconscious driver to Scripps Mercy Hospital. 10News learned he suffered a major head injury and broken bones.
No other injuries were reported.
