SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A fiery rollover crash in the Grantville area left one person dead, police said.
The crash was reported shortly after 11:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 3900 block of Camino Del Rio North, near Ward Road, according to San Diego police.
Police said a white 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling westbound on Camino Del Rio North when “the driver drove straight unable to negotiate the turn.”
The Cruze crashed through a fence, went up an embankment and struck two trees before coming to rest on its roof.
The driver was trapped in the wreckage as the car burst into flames, police said.
A couple leaving a nearby 24 Hour Fitness saw the flames and tried to remove the driver from the car but were unable to do so.
Police said the driver was declared dead at the scene.
