SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were the victims of a carjacking Thursday night in the Fairmount Park area of San Diego and the suspected carjacker remained at large.
The man and woman were sitting in their vehicle under a bridge at 4200 Federal Blvd. about 8:40 p.m. when a stranger approached the vehicle and began looking inside with a flashlight, prompting the man to get out of the vehicle and confront the stranger, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.
As the two argued, the suspect pulled a knife and threatened the victim, who ran away and found a police officer, Heims said.
The suspect returned to the vehicle, where the woman was sitting in the passenger seat, and got into the driver's seat. The woman grabbed the keys and ran from the vehicle as the suspect chased her until she fell. He took the keys and some of her property, jumped in the vehicle and drove away eastbound on Federal Boulevard, Heims said.
The vehicle was later found abandoned at 4600 Ocean View Blvd., he said.
The suspect was described as a white man in his 30s, 6 foot to 6 feet 1 inches tall, weighing 180 to 185 pounds with long brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing beige or white pants with a dark baggie coat and white shoes, Heims said.
Anyone with information about this carjacking was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
