CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A gas station store clerk was shot after a confrontation with a suspected thief, police said Tuesday.
According to Chula Vista police, the shooting took place at around 1:30 a.m. at the Arco ampm on 798 3rd Ave.
Police said a clerk spotted a suspected shoplifter in the store and chased after the person. At that point, at least one shot was fired and the clerk was hit, according to police.
The injured clerk was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but 10News learned he is expected to survive.
A description of the suspected thief was not immediately available.
