EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer suffered serious injuries Thursday night after he was struck by a suspected drunken driver in the El Cajon area.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., a CHP motorcycle officer stopped to help a driver whose car had stalled off westbound Interstate 8 near Main Street.
When the officer attempted to leave the scene, he was struck by a white Chevrolet Camaro.
The officer suffered major injuries to his lower body and was rushed to the hospital. His condition is unknown as of Friday morning.
The Camaro’s driver pulled over on the Main St. off-ramp and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
