SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A car exiting Interstate 8 near a Mission Valley shopping mall went airborne and slammed into a sign, causing a passenger to be ejected and leaving the driver trapped in the wreckage.

The crash was reported at around 2:45 a.m. at the corner of Camino Del Rio North and Mission Center Road, near the Westfield Mission Valley mall, according to authorities.

Several witnesses told 10News they saw a Mercedes Benz coupe exit from westbound I-8 onto Mission Center Road at a high rate of speed. The Mercedes then went airborne and crashed into a sign at the corner, according to the witnesses.
