CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – A speeding car burst into flames after crashing into a wall off Interstate 805 in the Chula Vista area early Friday morning.
The crash and subsequent car fire occurred at around 12:30 a.m. off southbound I-805 at Palomar Street.
Chula Vista police said they believe the black Volkswagen Jetta exited the carpool offramp at a high rate of speed when it struck a curb and went airborne.
The car then hit a section of a wall before falling onto the sidewalk and bursting into flames.
10News learned the driver fled the scene of the crash.
No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.
