CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A chase in the South Bay ended when a car being pursued by police plowed into the back of an SUV with a family inside.
At around 2 a.m. Monday, Chula Vista police tried to pull over a PT Cruiser with a taillight out, but the car refused to stop.
The car led police on a chase on Chula Vista surface streets before entering northbound Interstate 805.
Reaching speeds of up to 100 MPH, the PT Cruiser was on I-805 near Plaza Boulevard in National City when it slammed into the back of an SUV and then came to a stop.
With guns drawn, police officers surrounded the disabled PT Cruiser and eventually pulled the driver out to arrest him.
There is no word on the charges the driver faces.
The family members in the SUV were not injured.
