SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are trying to piece together the events that led to the discovery of a bullet-riddled car in the Mountain View area.

At around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a person called 911 to report seeing a driver park a car with multiple bullet holes on it on 44th Street, near Newton Avenue and east of the Willie Henderson Sports Complex.

The caller told dispatchers that the driver did not appear to be injured and walked away from the car.

San Diego police officers arrived to find shell casings inside the car, and they believe shots were fired from inside the vehicle.

While the investigation is in its early stages, police believe the car may have been involved in a possible car-to-car gun battle.
