SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are investigating a Tuesday morning break-in at a Carmel Mountain optometry store -- the latest in a string of similar burglaries that have occurred around San Diego County in the past several weeks.

According to San Diego police, this latest break-in was reported shortly after 12:30 a.m. at the LensCrafters store at 11134 Rancho Carmel Dr.

Officers responded to an alarm call and arrived to find a shattered window where the thieves made their way inside.

It remains unclear how many burglars were involved and how much merchandise was taken.

Police have not determined if Tuesday’s break-in is linked to the Aug. 16 burglary of a Sorrento Valley store or any of the other burglaries that have been carried out at optometry offices or stores in Escondido, La Mesa and Chula Vista within the last month.
