One dead in house fire in East San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A person died Sunday in a one-story house fire in Teralta West neighborhood, authorities said.

The fire started around 3:00 p.m. in the 4000 block of Fairmount Ave, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in 20 minutes, however SDG&E was called out for down power lines. The San Diego Humane Society was also on scene to assist a dog.

A body was found inside the house and fire investigators arrived to try to determine how the fire started and how the person died.

It was not immediately known how many people escaped from the home when the fire started.
