SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An argument between a woman and her former boyfriend at a Mountain View cemetery led to a bizarre crash during which the woman was dragged and several tombstones were destroyed.

According to San Diego police, the incident occurred at around 2 a.m. in an area of the Mount Hope Cemetery near 38th Street and Imperial Avenue.

Witnesses said a verbal altercation between a woman and her ex-boyfriend escalated when the man tried to drive away in her car.

However, according to witnesses, the woman grabbed onto the car’s windows as the ex-boyfriend drove off.

As the pair were being dragged, the car crashed through a fence and destroyed four tombstones before coming to a stop.

The ex-boyfriend got out of the vehicle and ran away.

The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.

Police searched the area for the ex, but he was nowhere to be found. A description of the man was not immediately available.

City officials told 10News they are going to try to contact any living family members whose loved ones' tombstones were damaged.
