SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Four people were hurt after a truck being pursued by authorities crashed into a fence in the Logan Heights area.

At around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities were called to the 600 block of Sacramento Avenue in Spring Valley in response to a reported assault. When authorities arrived at the scene, they spotted a possible suspect fleeing the area in a pickup truck.

With authorities in pursuit, the truck got onto state Route 125 and then sped westbound on state Route 54. The truck transitioned to Interstate 5 and eventually made its way onto northbound state Route 15 before exiting on Ocean View Boulevard.

The truck sped westbound on Churchward Street, near Euclid Avenue, and then slammed into a chainlink fence, sending the fence into five people who were standing nearby.

After entering the Logan Heights area, the truck crashed into a gate and some parked vehicles on Commercial Street. The driver got out of the wrecked truck and ran away.

The driver was captured by authorities a few blocks away on Clay Avenue and arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and DUI.

Four of the five people struck by the fence were taken to the hospital with injuries considered non-life threatening.
