EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) - A violent crash on an El Cajon-area roadway sent two people to the hospital with injuries and led to the arrest of one driver.
The crash occurred at around 12:30 a.m. on Jamacha Road, near Vista Del Valle Boulevard, according to El Cajon police.
10News learned a blue Nissan Altima was traveling at a high rate of speed on southbound Jamacha Road when the driver lost control and spun out. Witnesses said the car entered the northbound lanes and struck a white sedan with a husband and wife inside.
The Altima’s driver climbed out of the wreckage, but his passenger had to be cut out of the car by firefighters. The passenger was unresponsive and was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
The woman in the white vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, 10News learned. Her husband was not hurt.
The driver of the Altima, who was not injured, told police that he had not used drugs but admitted to smoking marijuana. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
