JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) - Two 19-year-olds were killed after a pickup truck and Jeep collided head-on in Jamul late Sunday night.

The crash happened shortly after 11:45 p.m. in the 13900 block of Lyons Valley Road, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

CHP officials said a 1997 GMC Sonoma truck was traveling eastbound on Lyons Valley Road when it somehow crossed over the double yellow line and slammed head-on into a 2017 Jeep Wranger with four occupants -- an 18-year-old female driver, an 18-year-old female passenger and two male teen passengers.

The truck’s 19-year-old male driver was trapped in the wreckage and died as emergency responders tried to rescue him.

A female passenger in the truck, also 19, died about 30 minutes later, the CHP said.

The Jeep's occupants suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
