19-year-old shot in Chicano Park, police investigating

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a 19-year-old was shot in Chicano Park Wednesday night.

According to San Diego Police, the teen was walking with a group of men in the park just before 7 p.m. when an argument broke out and an unknown suspect pulled out a handgun.

Several shots were fired at the 19-year-old, who was hit twice by the gunfire, police say.

The victim ran away from the scene and was taken to the hospital by an acquaintance. He sustained non-life threatening injuries, police say.

Both the victim and acquaintance were unable to provide any details about the shooting. The San Diego Police Department’s gang unit is investigating.
