SPRING VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) -- One person was killed and several others were injured after a brawl erupted near a Spring Valley 7-Eleven store late Tuesday evening.

According to San Diego County sheriff’s officials, deputies were called to the corner of Grand Avenue and Jamacha Road, at around 10:30 p.m. in response to a fight involving multiple people.

Deputies said a large fight reportedly began inside a 7-11 convenience store before spilling out into the street.

When deputies arrived, the brawl was in progress with several people suffering from stab wounds. One injured person was believed to have been struck by a baseball bat.

At least five people were transported to area hospitals; one victim died after arriving at the hospital. The conditions of the other victims are unknown as of early Wednesday morning.

Two men were in custody later Wednesday in connection with the brawl. No other suspects were being sought, deputies said.

The motive for the fight was still under investigation Wednesday.
