1 dead, 1 hurt in National City shooting

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) – Police are investigating a shooting in National City that left a man dead and sent another man to the hospital early Monday morning.

The shooting was reported at around 1:45 a.m. in the 2100 block of Grove Street, near 22nd Street, according to National City police.

Police said officers responding to reports of shots fired arrived to find a man on Grove Street multiple gunshot wounds to his legs.

Emergency crews arrived and treated the victim at the scene as police officers searched the area for the suspected shooter.

During the search, officers discovered another man who had been shot and was lying on his back near the intersection of 22nd and Grove.

Despite life-saving measures, the man could not be saved.

The injured man was rushed to the hospital and his condition is unknown.

Police are interviewing potential witnesses and hoping to review any surveillance video as part of their investigation.

Police told 10News the two men knew each other and do not live in the neighborhood.
