LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) – A Lakeside couple says they found a stranger hiding in their baby’s closet.

The baby’s mother, Holli, says she went into her 3-week-old daughter's room around 1 a.m. Thursday after hearing static on the baby monitor.

“I opened the door, and I saw a person halfway in her closet,” Holli said. “She was wearing a black ski jacket, black pants and something over her face where we could only see her eyes.”

That’s when Holli called for her boyfriend.

“He runs out here, and he grabs a knife out of the kitchen, and he goes in there,” she said. “At this point, this person is hunched by the baby’s crib trembling.”

Her boyfriend tells the intruder to empty her pockets. And that’s when she pulls out a set of house keys that she says she lost on Monday.

“(She) hands them to him and rushes by him," Holli said. "She’s like, please I have children, and she rushes by me and rushes out of the complex."

They called 911 and deputies responded to their home on Mapleview Street, but the woman was gone.

“I just thought what was her plan if we caught her in the middle of the day,” Holli said.
