A clerk at a Kearny Mesa gas station was robbed at gunpoint Sunday, and the gunman escaped on foot.
The suspect showed a black semi-automatic handgun to the cashier at the 76 station in the 3800 block of Kearny Mesa Road at about 1:45 a.m., demanded money, then escaped with an unknown amount of cash, San Diego Police Sgt. Brad O'Donnell said.
The suspect was last seen walking west on Ostrow Street.
He was described as possibly Hispanic based on his accent, 5-feet 9- inches tall, 155 pounds, with a normal build, wearing a black windbreaker jacket, grey pants, and white tennis shoes. The hood on the jacket was pulled up and a black bandana covered his face, according to police.
There were no injuries to the cashier. The San Diego Police Department Robbery Unit was investigating.
