IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman in Imperial Beach is hoping surveillance footage will help authorities catch a man she said has been terrorizing her family.
Esther told 10News she got quite the surprise when she was doing her makeup Wednesday morning.
"Out of the corner of my eye, from the way my mirror was positioned, I see something in the mirror; and I see his face," she said.
Esther said she felt "total fear, and then kind of a little bit of anger. It's just like, 'How dare he!' And some choice words ?"
According to Esther, the man was staring at her and watching her through her bedroom window.
A security camera at her apartment complex captured footage of a man walking up to Esther's window and looking.
However, on Thursday morning, the situation became worse.
"I didn't even ? I showered this morning, didn't even notice," Esther said.
The man had apparently watched Esther through a tiny bathroom window.
"They found him standing on top of this table, peering in through the window," Esther told 10News.
"I don't know how long this has been here. So, I don't know if he's been watching me shower, or my children shower, for a while," she added.
A neighbor chased the man away, but now the apartment complex is on guard.
According to residents, the man broke a lock to enter. Now, posters have been placed around the complex to scare him away -- including right under the window where it all started.
"This guy is a serial peeper or I don't know what his intentions are," said Esther. "I have a few things that run through my mind, but besides it being very unfair, being a pig, payback's a bitch."
Esther hopes the man is caught before she or anyone else gets hurt.
"That's my biggest worry, is how do I prevent him from going further," she told 10News.
Esther reported the incidents to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, and deputies are investigating.
