SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - If you're feeling left out of the Comic-Con scene, you don't have to because there are ways you, your friends and family can get in on the action without spending a dime.

Even if you don't have a pass to the convention, the Gaslamp Quarter is filled with activities like the Game of Thrones Winter is Coming Experience, a Nintendo exhibit at the Marriott Marquis hotel and a Netflix experience featuring "Stranger Things," to name a few.

"Everything outside the Con is basically free and just promoting the shows," said Andy Beck, an Imperial Beach resident who was in line for the Game of Thrones exhibit. "There's so much to look at, costumes, experiences to do, there's actually parties going on."

That includes a "Kingsmen"-themed happy hour at the Hard Rock Hotel and a 4-D Midnight Texas Takeover, just across from the convention center.

And, of course, there's people watching; click here are the best places to do that.

One key point -- it’s important to plan how you're going to get downtown. Some rivate lots are charging as much as $70 to park. Taking the trolley may be the best plan, as it goes right to the heart of the Gaslamp.
