SAN DIEGO -- Firefighters battling a blaze at an Otay Mesa house found no furnishings and hundreds of marijuana plants inside.
Fire-Rescue Captain Joe Amador says it took crews about 15 minutes to douse the flames Sunday at the three-bedroom home in the 4200 block of Darwin Way.
Amador says firefighters discovered an elaborate pot-growing operation with hundreds of plants in each room of the house. He says police were notified.
The Union-Tribune newspaper says investigators determined the fire started when a bulb in a lamp fell from the ceiling onto some of the plants.
The house sustained about $10,000 worth of damage.
