SAN DIEGO – A Horizon Airlines flight made a precautionary return to Lindbergh Field Tuesday morning after a caution light illuminated in the cockpit shortly after take-off.

The crew of Flight 2468, which departed San Diego headed to Santa Rosa carrying 64 passengers, decided to follow company protocol by returning to San Diego's airport to investigate the caution light. This prompted the issuance of an Alert 2 by San Diego Fire-Rescue.

The aircraft, a Q-400 prop plane, appeared to land safely just before 11:30 a.m. Although a Horizon plane, the flight was being operated by Alaska Airlines.

The passengers are scheduled to depart at 2:30 p.m., after a four-hour delay.
