SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A transient was arrested after police said he set a fire at a homeless encampment in Grantville that sent another homeless man to the hospital.
Witnesses called 911 about 9 p.m. Tuesday to report a fire near 10990 San Diego Mission Road that broke out following an argument between two men.
Officers arrived to find a man had been pulled from a burning tent by witnesses. He was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center with burn-related injuries and is in critical condition.
Police spotted the homeless man suspected of setting the fire near the encampment and arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.
The fire was quickly put out, and no other injuries were reported.
