Frustration hangs over an East County neighborhood, after a Grinch targeted holiday displays on separate nights in the past 10 days.

Along Dewane Drive in El Cajon, it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and then a Grinch paid a visit.

“It’s kind of a bummer. You don’t expect this on Christmas,” said Matthew Slionys.

When Slionys walked outside one morning a week and a half ago, he found his metal reindeer knocked over.

“One head was torn apart. The leg was detached on the other,” said Slionys.

A bigger reindeer was completely dismantled.

“Rudolph had a rough night. I felt violated. I mean, this is Christmas,” said Slionys.

Down the street, a lit metal tree was toppled.

“I was just in disbelief and disappointed. My husband put it back up. He wanted my grandchildren to see it when they came to visit,” said Susie Uribe.

The vandal also made off with at least three long strands of lights

So, the tree is up, but missing its back half.

Neighbors say the vandal went up and down the street at least twice in the last 10 nights.

From another holiday display, A plastic Eiffel Tower disappeared. Next to it, a plastic train was sliced.

The clues are few.

During one of the nights, one of the victims heard a crash around 3:30 a.m., came out and saw a dune buggy type vehicle speeding away.

”There's enough Grinches in the world right now, so it was kind of a letdown,” said Slionys.
