A stabbing during an argument in Hillcrest sent one man to a hospital and a second to jail, police said Monday.

A 27-year-old man picked a fight with a 58-year-old man for unknown reasons in the vicinity of Fifth and University avenues shortly after 2:30 p.m. Sunday, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said. The older man responded by stabbing the younger man in the left side of his abdomen.

Heims said the wounded man was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and the suspect was arrested at the scene.

No names were immediately available.
