The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season starts Wednesday morning with opening day and runs through September 4 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Chula Vista and Sweetwater schools start their new year Wednesday.

Comic-Con starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday downtown.

Ace Parking, which manages more than a dozen lots downtown, made reserved parking available downtown. All of Ace's spaces are sold out for Friday and most for Saturday, according to Kristen Ludwick of Ace Parking.
