SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A teen wanted on an “outstanding detention order” barricaded himself in a Golden Hill home Wednesday night, prompting a SWAT standoff that ended with his arrest nearly five hours later.

According to San Diego police, officers went to a home in the 2900 block of E Street just after 8 p.m. to make contact with the 17-year-old boy, but he refused to come out of the house.

10News learned the teen was being investigated in connection with a violent crime -- possibly a shooting -- that occurred earlier this week.

Believing the holed-up teen had access to a weapon, a SWAT unit was summoned to the scene.

After lengthy negotiations, the boy exited the home at around 11 p.m. and surrendered to police without incident.
