Several San Diego-area shopping malls are offering parents a safe and controlled place for their kids to trick-or-treat on Halloween.
Here's a list of county malls and shopping centers holding trick-or-treating events today:

-- Otay Ranch Center (2015 Birch Rd.): 4 p.m.-8 p.m., during farmers market. Stores will be passing out candy and events will feature balloon-making, face-painting and other crafts

Westfield Mission Valley, Westfield Horton Plaza and Fashion Valley Mall are not holding trick-or-treating events.
