Police were searching Saturday for a gunman who robbed Tapioca Express in the University City area.

The armed robbery at 7770 Regents Road took place at 11 p.m. Friday, San Diego police Sgt. Brad O'Donnell said.

The gunman walked into the coffee and tea shop and pointed a gun at the woman behind the register, O'Donnell said. The clerk handed over the cash and the robber fled the scene on foot.

A woman in the restaurant recorded the whole thing and even confronted the robber.

No one was injured.

The robber was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, O'Donnell said.

He stood about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed about 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green bandana over his face, a gray hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans.
