SAN DIEGO - Gunfire erupted at a crowded Rolando-area hookah lounge early Thursday morning, sending customers running for cover inside to avoid the hail of bullets.
According to San Diego police, the shooting happened after midnight at Blue Nile Hookah in the 7200 block of El Cajon Blvd.
Police said a man wrapped in a blanket walked up to the business and began shooting. The gunfire struck windows and cars in front of the lounge, but no one was hurt.
Some customers who hid inside the lounge said when the shooting stopped, they thought the gunman would enter the business and shoot them.
However, the man vanished from the scene. A description of the gunman was not immediately available.
