Cherkeiray Jones, 23, worked as a cook at Qualcomm Stadium. Friends say when the chargers left, he then transferred to Petco Park.
“He was a very cool guy and I miss him. Very much,” said Jones' friend, Devon Henderson.
Other friends described Jones as a hard-worker who grew up in the area and was known for being the life of the party.
According to a friend, Jones lived near the school where was found with gunshot wounds.
“There’s always that thing. You know, you wish it were you and not him,” his uncle, Lawrence Elliott, said.
Neighbors tell 10News they heard a handful of gunshots Thursday night around 11 p.m., but no one called the police.
Jones leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter.
