EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Health officials in San Diego County are reminding residents who previously received a first dose of the hepatitis A vaccine that it’s time for a second dose.

The County’s Health and Human Services Agency is hosting a free hepatitis A vaccination event on June 21 for those who received their initial dose of the vaccine before December 1.

More than 150,000 first doses and 18,000 second doses of the vaccine have been given to San Diegans.

For those who plan to get vaccinated, a two-dose series is recommended. Officials said that, regardless of where San Diegans received their first vaccination, they can receive the second dose at the event.

The event will be held at the East Region Public Health Center in El Cajon from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
