CORONADO (CNS) - An auto theft suspect was arrested after a brief chase that ended in a crash this morning at a construction site around the corner from the Coronado Police Department, but his passenger got away.

Larry Duane Bradford, 38, allegedly was behind the wheel of a stolen car that ran a stop sign at Seventh Street and A Avenue in front of a police officer, according to a Coronado police statement. The car was reported stolen
out of San Diego on Monday.

An officer was trying to catch up to the car when the driver apparently lost control and crashed through a construction site in the 1000 block of Seventh Street. Police said Bradford and a passenger then got out and ran.

Bradford was located behind the nearby library and was taken into custody, police said. He was taken to a hospital for an evaluation, but is expected to be booked into jail on suspicion of auto theft and felony evading
once he is released from the hospital.

The passenger was not found during the search. Police described her as a black woman with blond hair and a heavy build wearing a black shirt and a black jacket.
