SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - World War II veterans will leave San Diego Friday for an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

80 veterans will leave Lindbergh Field for their trip to the WWII memorial. Three of the veterans are over 100 years old. There are five female veterans and a pair of identical twins.

The organizer estimates there are only 1,000 WWII veterans left in San Diego County.

Friday will be the first Honor Flight of 2017. The organization had to cancel a trip planned for spring due to a lack of funding. You can donate to the non-profit HERE.
