SANTEE - Flames tore through a home near Gillespie Field early Friday, causing substantial damage and sending one person to a hospital.
The blaze in the 8400 block of Desiree Lane in Santee erupted about 5:15 p.m., according to Heartland Fire & Rescue.
It took crews about an hour to fully extinguish the flames, a dispatcher said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
